Eighty-five years ago, these students, seniors at Eastern District High in New York are airing an unscripted debate on the subject Guns or Butter, over WNYE, the radio station of Brooklyn Technical High School.  Students throughout Greater New York were tuned in. The photo appeared in the September 1941 issue of Radio Retailing. Undoubtedly, soon after graduating, the men were involved in the guns side of the debate.

The station, originally licensed as WCNY, was an “AM Apex” station, broadcasting in AM on 41.1 MHz. In 1942, the station switched over to FM and moved to 42.1 MHz.
