One hundred years ago, this family is enjoying a program on one of the better stations, thanks to their receiver being equipped with a Thordarson transformer. The ad in the November 1926 issue of Radio Age explains that the secret of good reception is not in attempted correction of the deficiencies of poor broadcasting, but in faithfully reproducing the programs of the better stations.
And Thordarson transformers were ideal, as they were designed to give, as nearly as possible, equal attention to all notes.
If the name Thordarson rings a bell, it’s because we previously posted a travelogue of our trip to Rock Island State Park in Wisconsin, which was originally a vacation retreat created by the company’s founder.
