Shown here is Frances Marie Burke (later, Kenney), Miss America 1940,  tuning in a program from Atlantic City on her portable radio.  The photo appeared in the October 1940 issue of Radio Retailing, which didn’t identify the brand of radio, but reminded that beach portables would be popular the following summer.
