I found this “Stray” in QST 70 years ago (June 1945) interesting. When servicemen wrote home about ham radio, phrases unfamiliar to the censor were frequently deleted. But when the serviceman wrote a marginal note to the censor explaining the meaning, then the term was passed without censorship.
